It may be hard to see in the above picture of Jemma's pillow, but her hair is starting to fall out again. During Phase 1A
I cut her hair about three weeks after her first chemotherapy treatment because her hair was falling out. It has been three weeks since her first chemotherapy treatment from Phase 2A and we seem to be in repeat mode.
Vincristine is one of the the drugs she is currently receiving on a weekly basis. It causes nerve issues and is having this effect on Jemma. Her legs do not work very well. It is most evident when she struggles to climb the stairs. Although the medicines have side effects, they are producing the desired response in Jemma's body. They are hard on the body, but there is an end in sight.
Her steroid dose is slowly going down and her energy level is slowly going up. She has one week left of Phase 2A followed by two weeks of Phase 2B and a possible break in between. Then comes the remaining seven doses of L'Asparaginase over 14 weeks and then we're into maintenance.
