Math Art - Geometry

This year as a supplement to my daughter's math curriculum, she has been creating geometrical art pictures. Following the book Mathematics in Space And Time by John Blackwood she has created many impressive works while learning how to use a compass and a straight edge.

Now she knows how to bisect an angle, find the midpoint of a line, draw a hexagon and create a spiral using only her straight edge and compass. This is one of her favorite weekly activities as she has always loved coloring. The book is recommended for ages 12-14, but my five year old watches closely as she creates these drawings and then tries to emulate her. I think my five year old will have more success in a few years and I will definitely introduce her to these activities in the future.
